Emily was given a coupon for a free kid’s meal so she
ordered chicken fingers with French fries.
It came with a Rice Krispy square and a drink. The French fries weren’t crispy but very
greasy. She enjoyed the chicken but
said it wasn’t as good as PawPaws. J
I ordered the Seaside Platter of bacon wrapped shrimp and
crabcakes. I chose two sides: cole
slaw and rice pilaf. It also came with
3 hushpuppies.
Forgetting my tartar sauce was forgivable. The cole slaw was really good, sweet. You know those $1 bags of flavored rice at
the grocery store? That’s what the
rice pilaf tasted like. Didn’t eat
it. The cocktail sauce had way too much
horseradish in it but luckily I had some at home. I absolutely LOVE hushpuppies but don’t get
to eat them often because I rarely eat fried foods. They had the potential to be good. They had the flavor I like but they were so
thick. I even felt the middle to make
sure they were cooked all the way. It
was very doughy. The crab cakes (2)
were too greasy. The coating wasn’t a
good crisp but rather a dark brown from soaking up the grease. When I put my fork in to cut some off,
grease came up through every hole.
Actually, it didn’t taste like it had been cooked through.
I will have to say that the staff was very kind and
polite. The manager checked on me
several times and I even saw him wiping some tables down. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will have a
return visit. Captain D’s is
comparable and cheaper.
